A Macon native, Dr. Heard joined Westmoreland, Patterson, Moseley and Hinson, LLP in 2002 from Alston & Bird in Atlanta. Dr. Heard specializes in Health law with an emphasis on medical malpractice. Dr. Heard graduated from the University of Georgia in 1970 where he was a member of the dean 's list and Alpha Epsilon Delta honor society. Dr. Heard received his M.D. from the Medical College of Georgia in 1974 and his residency in Otolaryngology in 1980. Dr. Heard practiced his surgical specialty in Georgia until 1996. During his active practice, Dr. Heard found time to run two Crippled Children Clinics for underprivileged hearing impaired children and served as an advisor to Georgia's Children's Medical Services. Dr. Heard remains a member of the Georgia Society of Otolaryngology, the American Board of Otolaryngology, the American Academy of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery. He was an assistant professor of surgery at the Medical College of Georgia and a member of the Medical Association of Georgia's House of Delegates. Dr. Heard graduated from Mercer University's Walter F. George School of Law, cum laude in 2000. At Mercer he was an associate editor of Mercer's Law Review. Presently, Dr. Heard is a member of the Bootle Inn of Court, the American Bar Association, the Georgia Bar Association, the Macon Bar Association, the Georgia Trial Lawyer's Association and the American Trial Lawyer's Association. Dr. Heard is married to the former Mary Kay Field of Augusta.
